Green card
(Key for a new life)
For any immigrant who migrated to USA, changes have a different meaning such as: freedom, economy, work, new experience, necessity and, many reasons to be.
A little bit of history back at 1952 when the INA (Immigration and Nationality Act) enacted by US congress and states the term “alien” the life of any person whose want to migrate to USA change. An “Alien” is any person who’s not a citizen. This granting of USA nationality is determined and care by case analysis. By 1982, the US supreme court made this statement: Once an “alien” immigrant grants and allows admission to US, and develop certain ties, they will become a permanent resident and acquires “Green card”, his/her constitutional status change.
Back to Reagan’s administration, the opinion about aliens’ requirements changed with wars and refugee families coming to USA from Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam.
In Sept 30, 1996 President Clinton signed into law “The Illegal Immigration Reform and immigration Responsibility Act”
Things are often changed in Immigration matters. By 2014 there were approximately 13.2 million of LPRs (lawful permanent residents) of whom 8.9 million of them are eligible to naturalize.
Green card is a hope of a new and most of the time a better life for a anyone who’s looking for it.
